Cornelia Sollfrank, Net Art Generator, 1999

This is Rhizome Today for Friday, August 22, 2014

Rhizome Today is an experiment in ephemeral blogging: a series of posts that are written hastily in response to current events, and disappeared within a day or so. At the end of each month, we'll republish highlights from the series in a more selective and polished form. The latest post can always be found at http://www.rhizome.org/today.

Grants for Net Art
Today is the last day to submit a proposal for one of five Internet Art Microgrants. Public voting will begin sometime next week — extact timing TBA. From there, Rhizome members will cull the full range of proposals to 20, with our jury awarding five.

Cruising the listings, there are already some quite stellar submissions. What's most exciting about the browser-based grants is that it's career agnostic — this is all about supporting art on the internet, whether by an artist well-known or emerging. So sumbit, whoever you are, with that great idea you've had for something online.

Submit, inventor of the internet, Tim Berners-Lee!

Submit, muckrakers Wade Guyton and Jerry Saltz!

Submit, incoming art school frosh! [h/t Jeanette Hayes]

And in other news....
